City Investment in Neighborhoods

I want to see an increase of city investment in our neighborhoods, from revitalizing Teglia’s Paradise Park and investing in universal accessible playgrounds to creating new neighborhood grant programs. I want to see potholes filled, snow plowed, old sidewalks replaced and new ones where we don’t have them now. Downtown businesses recently got city grants to pay for upgrades to their sidewalk appeal. I want to see houses and businesses in our neighborhoods get that investment next. I’ve managed programs like that, and know what a difference they can make for our community. It is important to me that we reduce blight and that we invest in our neighborhoods to ensure a clean and safe community for all of our families.

Downtown is an important economic driver of our city. Downtown is also the home to many families and residents. We need to increase community safety capacity by increasing the officials in code compliance, business license, RPD, streets and maintenance, RFD, and other essential city services. The increase in capacity will help residents and businesses. We also need to support the increase of housing units downtown including 3-bedroom units. The increase in residents and families will help sustain a variety of businesses that are and will be downtown. The city needs to continue supporting the Downtown Reno Partnership as they are a part of a clean and safe downtown.

Housing and Economic Development

As a city we must continue to work with developers to build different types of housing from single family homes, townhomes, condos, and other types of housing to meet the demand and to help our Renoites with affordability. As a city, we can encourage infill development and support increased vertical density in new housing projects. My goal is to get more families in our neighborhoods and downtown.

Opportunities for Youth and Seniors

We must take care of our youth and seniors. I have visited many of the public schools that children in our ward attend. I want to create partnerships with these schools and the city to promote a positive learning environment. I would like to see the first youth neighborhood advisory board for the City of Reno where young people have a stronger voice in their city. I want to increase programming for our seniors across all of the city’s community centers and I will be a councilman that makes sure that the senior community is heard.

Community Safety

I hear from neighbors about concerns they have in their community, from violence to speeding. I believe we must find ways to mitigate these concerns for our community members. As part of the city’s budget priorities, I want to ensure our safety officials like Police, Fire, Code Enforcement, Business Compliance and others are prioritized. These officials tackle a variety of safety issues in our community.

Medical Districts

I want to leverage any and every way we can to bring more medical providers to the area, and keep the ones we have. I will focus on working with our community partners to explore any and every idea. We might consider everything from extra pedestrian and traffic safety to incentives medical centers to open in certain areas.

Veterans Commission

I want to see a veterans commission established for the City of Reno to promote programming for our veteran community. Veterans have served our country and I want to make sure we distinguish ourselves as a city that takes care of their veterans.

Please help us create a stronger, cleaner, and safer Reno!
